Math can be quite the 4 letter word, but with the right curriculum it becomes an amazing tool that unlocks the world around us. When I was a child I didn’t understand how important math was to everyday life. I try to explain to my kids how many things we use math for on a daily basis. We do a ton of cooking and baking so we use it to demonstrate how we need math. My husband builds things with wood and we show our kids how to measure wood to the proper size so we show them how we could not build things out of wood without the ability to use math. My kids hated math until last year. We tried just about every curriculum out there. Then we discovered Life of Fred and now my kids beg to do math. It is exciting and fun and most of all shows how you need math to understand the world around us. We still use Math Mammoth as extra reinforcement, but it is easier for my kids to understand the math on the paper now that they understand how it works in the world.
